Golden Oldies Cricket

ABOUT US

The CBC Golden Oldies Cricket Club's forerunner, the "CBC Bank Cricket Club", was founded in 1893 and operated for 94 years until 1987 when the "changing culture of the business world" caused its demise.

On 2nd August, 1995 the CBC Golden Oldies Cricket Club Inc. was formed due principally to the hard work and passion of a founding member, Ian Holston. The Club had its first game on 1st October, 1995 at the Primary Club of Australia's Lemon Tree ground at Dooralong NSW.

The Club participates in both domestic and selected international fixtures - domestically, opponents include teams from Nowra, Revesby, Springwood, Newcastle, Richmond, Goulburn, Lithgow and Port Macquarie. International festivals have seen the Club visit South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, Argentina, Sri Lanka, England and Barbados. Also World Golden Oldies Cricket Festivals and Vintage Cricket Carnivals within Australia.

Golden Oldies Cricket is open to anyone over 40 years of age. It is played on a 40 over concept, structured for involvement of all players. The majority of our games are played on turf wickets.

New players are always welcome.

We do not have any membership/joining fees. It is just a simple matter of completing a membership form.

Match fees are about $30 per game.

Please contact our Publicity Officer, Tony Adnum on 02 9683 2442 or 0432 581 760 or go to the "Contact Us" page.

THE BRADMAN CREED - The True Spirit of Cricket

You do well to love it, for it is far more free from anything sordid, anything dishonourable, than any game in the world. To play it keenly, honourably, generously, self-sacrificingly, is a morale lesson in itself and the classroom is God's air and sunshine. Foster it my brothers so that it may attract all who may find the time to play it; protect it from anything that would sully it, so that it may be in favour with all men.
